Beautiful Abigail has not had an easy life. For several years, residents in her neighborhood told us about a pretty golden colored dog who wandered, but didn't seem to have a home. She would make regular visits, eat the food that was given to her, and then leave. The next day she would be back. No one knew of her home or if there even was a family, so when she was found sleeping under a burned out trailer two weeks ago, the neighbors decided enough was enough, and called on animal control to come and collect Abigail. Her life as as a nomad had finally ended!

Abigail was held at the shelter for the required ten days. Her family, if she has one, had ample time to look for her, contact the shelter about their missing dog, and check lost and found sites. But no one came looking.

Abigail "spoke" to volunteers each time they visited. Her eyes communicated her great desire to live in a house, to have food prepared especially for her, to be part of a pack of humans and canines, and to be honored in her senior years with respect, veterinary care, and unlimited love. She has made the transition to foster home, where her new foster family are loving every minute of their new houseguest! She is living with multiple dogs of all sizes as well as cats and kids. While there is no fee for adoptions of animals held in the Campbell County Shelter, there is a fee for dogs and cats in foster care. The fees range from $75 to $300.
