Jack Russell Terrier (medium coat) : : Female : : Senior : : Small Learn more about the Jack Russell Terrier.
Weight about 10 pounds. Adele has really made progress in the personality department. She is no spring chicken, but she still shows plenty of JRT spunk and I love that she is now barking, pressing against the kennel run gate when she sees volunteers, and is just generally happy to be alive!
Adele came in as a stray from Brookneal, and appears to be 8 to 10 years old. I base that on the sad condition of her teeth, but she might be younger and just has had pretty lousy food. She is tolerant of other dogs, and is sharing her kennel run with a younger Shih Tzu female. Best guess is that Adele churned out a large number of litters when she was younger. She is handshy, and cringes when you reach for her, which indicates that someone has probably not been kind to her in her day. I adore the senior dogs and am devastated that she is even at the county pound. Her left rear foot is missing a toe and it does look as though her little foot was injured in the past, but she walks around without seeming to be in pain. I like the fact that she really perked up with I took her outside walking yesterday!
