Hound (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Large
Flossie is an adorable 8 month old hound. This sweet, sweet girl has been in foster care, but has still not found that perfect family to take her home! She suffered from a puncture wound to her eyeball when she was a few weeks old, so has some vision loss in one eye. She is a super companion to her canine foster brother who weighs about 70 pounds and is gentle and sweet with cats, too! She is mostly housetrained and crate trained already. If this cutie pie would be a good fit for your home, please make arrangements to meet her today!
She is PAINFULLY shy in new situations & therefore her lovey nature isn't always as evident at events. She is also crouched & hidden when someone new comes in the house. I hope this will get better for her as she matures & gets more life experience under her belt. When she is comfortable she is an entirely different dog. She is so open & giving. She is mostly just down right goofy. Partly because she is a puppy, partly because she is a hound puppy & partly because she is Flossie puppy. She doesn't talk much unless she is playing w/ another dog. Then she can talk a lot. She is timid when meeting new dogs (or new creatures, like kittens for example), but she is never impolite, just shy. She greatly enjoys spending time outside. She loves frolicking in our fenced in back yard and she'll entertain herself out there for hours. Despite her love of the outdoors, she is equally as comfortable on the couch. She has learned from our dogs that inside times means lounging & snuggles. She LOVES to snuggle both people & dogs. And she is SO SOFT to snuggle with. Something about her coat just amazes my husband & I with its softness. Don't forget that she has already had surgery on her left eye. It is fully healed & enabled her to regain some of the vision in her left eye. She is crated at night & is now comfortable with that option. We feel it is still necessary as we are not all the way there with her house breaking (#1 only, never #2). Also she is still a puppy so is still learning what is/is not appropriate to play with.
