Hi there! My name is Poncho. I am a lively brindle colored 9 year old Pug mix. Don’t be fooled by my age! My life as a pup and young adult weren’t what I would call grand by any means. But my basic needs seem to have been met. My human interaction was limited during those years. You see, I came from a breeder. I didn’t receive social training or housekeeping skills. And when I was of no more use as a father, I was given up. I wasn’t ever considered a pet or companion, only a money maker.
But at 8 yrs old and a damaged ‘moon’ eye, my foster mom brought me home with her. For the first time in my life I got to know what it felt like to be a companion and sleep in a lap!! Foster mom took me to get a check up and have my bad eye removed. Surgery went great and I had to wear ‘THE CONE’ for a while. She was sad to find that I was HW positive. Given my age, my treatment plan was the slow kill method, with the once a month dose of preventative. We were set to find my forever home. And I thought we had. My adoptive family included a sister Pug, who I adored. But you remember that I said housekeeping skills were not an area I received training in…? Yeah, it was just too much for my adoptive mom to deal with. So here I am back with my original Foster mom! Its great being back with familiar faces and smells! And it’s SOOOO nice, being able to run around the FENCED IN Yard. That was another reason I couldn’t stay at with the adoptive mom! I like to run off if I am not on my leash! What can I say…I love to run and romp and play for hours! However inside the confines of a fenced in yard is where I will do best!! Because I am HW positive, being a running buddy isn’t really on my to-do list. BUT I make a great companion, whether it’s in the yard or curled up in your lap. So if you have the time, love and patience (oh and keep me on my HW med) in your heart to give this old one-eyed soul a home until the good Lord sees fit to call me home, I would be much obliged!!! I still have a bunch of spring in my step and lots of affection to give!!! Feel free to email my foster mom at jheag07@yahoo.com to make arrangements to meet me.
