About Kaia

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Brindle
  • Housetrained: Yes
Looking for an active, intelligent, and happy companion? Eight month old Kaia is scoping out possible new families who will be the right match for her needs. She is a Dutch Shepherd, on the smaller side of the shepherd family, and a girl who loves her humans, does well with other dogs, and is beautifully cared for. Life changes for her mom have taken away the time Kaia and mom spent together, and there is just no time for long walks, hikes, or visits with friends. Here's what Kaia would love to have: a fenced yard, a buddy (shepherd or otherwise), and a human family who would love the challenge of agility or other dog sport to really work her mind. She is spayed, housetrained, and loves her toys! Dutch Shepherds have been used for search and rescue, canine cops, and detection work. Her mom has been training her with positive reinforcement and she is well on the way to perfection! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242. APPLICATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO ADOPT. Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
