About Harper

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White
2/4/15 Transferred to LHS. HARPER, American Foxhound, arrived at the shelter with wounds to his left side. A trip to the vet ensued this morning, and we wanted to share the results with you. It appears HARPER was the victim of an animal attack. He has puncture wounds consistent with fox (or bear, or coyote) and localized infection at the sites, on his haunches as well as his neck area. We are happy he was not running a fever, but he received a shot of antibiotic and will need seven days of oral antibiotic as well. HARPER came from Harper Valley Road, off Lewis Ford Road. UPDATE 1/12/14: After only 24 hours on antibiotic, HARPER has come to life! He was suffering from bite wounds on his left side when he arrived as a stray foxhound, but now he is up and ready to romp with volunteers! The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this. For information on adopting this animal who is in care at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility, please call there: 434.821-4416. Hours are from 12 to 5 on weekdays and 11 to 4 on Saturday. Email us at info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org. A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED TO ADOPT.
