Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed : : Female : : Adult : : Large Learn more about the Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. Pearl: at the shelter needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
Pearl is searching for a new home. She is one who has had wonderful veterinary care and is spayed, microchipped, and current with vaccines. She is used to using a doggie door so she can potty when she needs to, and she has lived where there has been a fenced-in yard, so being at the shelter is really difficult for her. She has been around many other dogs, so that is not an issue for her. But when the other dogs bark at her and charge her because she is new, it makes her very upset. Today, we welcomed her to one-on-one quiet time in the office where the volunteers gave her isolation time, and told her how beautiful she is. We believe in “positive affirmation” modeled after one of our favorite rescuers, Rocky Kanala. The good news is that for dogs like Pearl there is almost always an upswing in confidence when we say the words “Good girl!” She was definitely responsive when she heard familiar words today. To help Pearl, you can offer words of wisdom in your own home. Pearl has not been around children nor cats.
