UPDATE on our handsome tripod boy Patrick! Patrick has been waiting patiently for a home where he can be loved for himself. He is a lovely boy, but not one who seeks out company, most likely because he was an only dog in his original home, and he was a dog that enjoyed being outside in the sunshine, or choosing his own space. For the past many months, he has shared living quarters with two other dogs, but we are trying hard to let him have his own space now, and want him to be seen by more people. Today, he journeyed back to the Campbell County Shelter where we will do our best to promote and advertise him for adoption. Patrick gets around beautifully despite his tripod-ness, and he can play, run, and jump into a vehicle easily! He loves all the bigger people he has meet, but toddlers can be a bit much for him, as he does need more personal space than they know how to give him initially. Although we say he is "special," it's only because of the time we have invested in keeping him alive and not because he has particular needs. He is truly an inspiration to anyone who may have a physical attribute that varies from everyone else. As we noted originally, he is not a six million dollar man... but in our eyes, he has earned the right to be SPECIAL!
PATRICK, the survivor/miracle boy/one who surpassed all expectations—all thanks to YOU for your encouragement and financial support! Three weeks ago, Patrick was found in a ditch on Campbell Highway one leg, shattered, and the other one in need of repair. Patrick is a two-year-old pitbull mix, 60 pounds, friendly and sweet, despite his traumatic injuries. Because of the support of the community, we collected enough funds to fix! He’s not a $6 million man, but he is close! Patrick had his stitches out last week, and has been strengthening his leg by doing what he feels like doing. The vet has told his foster family he has unlimited exercise allowance now, and while he will still want to rest frequently, he is no longer in need of his fentanyl patch or heavy duty pain meds, and now he just needs to complete healing and strengthening.
