Rio is one adorable boy! We were unsure of his breed, but our vet pointed out his head shape and his body shape are more in keeping with a fox terrier than a rat terrier, and his curly tail and high pitched “scream” are more in line with basenji. Put them together and you have this awesome little guy who just adores running and playing with other dogs! Rio weighs all of fourteen (14) pounds, and is about 1-1/2 years old. He was recently seen by a vet (possibly the first time ever) and was vaccinated and tested for heartworm and tick diseases. He had a clean bill of health on both counts. The vet did note that because he appears to be licking his feet more than many dogs, he may have a little allergy going on. This could be due to the pollen or molds right now, or it could be something that will occur all year long. We have noted that his pink-colored feet are less noticeable now than when he first came to the county pound. He would love to go home with a family who has a fenced in yard, maybe some very nice older kids, and maybe even another really nice little dog to play with! He spent the better part of ½ hour running and playing with Sammy, a very sweet min pin who is the same size and sweet temperament as Rio. They were precious as they played together.
