Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Large Learn more about the Catahoula Leopard Dog.
Oakley is a 3 year old chocolate catahoula mix who is neutered and weighs 70 pounds. He is an owner give up. His crime? Chasing livestock. He is good with older kids, cats, and female dogs. LOVES to play ball and frisbee. For an active family who love adventure, he would be a super match! He is highly stressed at the CCAC facility so he needs to find a forever home quickly. He has become URGENT. Please consider coming to meet Oakley today!
Update 10/26/13 Oakley has been put to work. Being at the facility is stressful for any dog and being a big dog doesn't make it easier in fact it often makes it worse. So when Oakley seemed to be getting depressed it was decided he needed to work. So with an used doggy back pack filled with water bottles we set to work carrying them all around the field giving Oakley a purpose once more letting him feel his worth. He stands very still while the pack is being put on (not something taught he's just that awesome!) Even though he knows he's working he still stands still and very calm for the kids to pet all over him and is very tolerant even if they are in his face and hugging him. Oakley loves humans and he loves to work with them even more. So do you need a hiking buddy? Or maybe someone to help you carrying heavy things at work? Oakley will soon be taught to pull a sled (if not adopted first) So maybe your kids want a sled dog and you don't want all the hair of a Malamute of a Husky. If you said yes to any of the above then Oakley is the dog for you with the added bonus of a super soft mouth (he takes treats super easy!) and all the love and devotion you could ask for.
