About Abe (aka Mr. Penny)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Fawn
  • Housetrained: Yes
Meet Abe. It's so hard to look into those eyes and not fall deeply in love with this adorable, emaciated boy, especially when you know the circumstances that brought him to our care. On Saturday a citizen brought him to the pound. He "came up to the house a couple days earlier," the citizen said, "and I just got around to bringing him in." We are glad that ABE was delivered to the CCAC facility because he quite likely wouldn't have survived much longer in the horrible condition in which he was found. Emaciated--at 17 pounds, he should have weighed at least 27 pounds. At approximately 8 weeks old, he will be a large guy if he grows into his body. He was unable to eat because his face was swollen, and a canine tooth was cracked, piercing his lip. He could barely walk, because his right front paw is split wide open in at least three places, and his leg above the foot is also slit open. He has residual blood from other wounds on his body as well. Yet he doesn't know he hurts, and he sees only good things and kind people around him! He is being well cared for in a foster home where he is spoiled rotten! He is seemingly already housetrained, according to his most wonderful foster mom! UPDATE: Abe is healing well and very quickly. He is doing wonderfully in his foster home but still needs a forever home. This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by TEXTING one of our volunteers at her personal cell phone, 434.851-2598. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
