About Gwen Hailey-Sponsored Spay!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White
We know the right home is out there for our Gwennie! All she wants is someone who can keep her safe from escaping, who can give her love, and who understands her unique requirements. She is not housetrained, can escape from a crate, and digs under fences. Now that you know the bad side, here's the upside: She is super good with other dogs, and kids, and loves attention. She walks very well on a leash too and loves to walk as far as you want to take her because she loves being entertained by all the fun smells along the way. A shelter favorite. So much so, that her spay will be sponsored by one of our volunteers! Our recommendation for Gwen is a home where she has a kennel run on a concrete pad for times she is not confined, and that her time in the house be supervised. Because we have no idea what her background included, we can only assume it was not in a home with the need to be clean. We also feel the right family is out there waiting for her, as she is one gorgeous personable girl with so much to give. UPDATE from Foster Mom 2/2/15: Gwen aka Guinevere, is crate trained and is in the process of being house trained. She loves to give kisses. She is only about 40 lbs soaking wet. The digging I will work on as she gets closer to finishing house training--and she is just about there! She is such a good dog--all she wants to do is please and be told good girl! This dog is in a foster home and not at the Campbell County Animal Control Facility. We always begin with an application to adopt, and this will be forwarded to the foster family for review. You can find this on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Specific questions are most easily answered by email, info@friendsofcampbellcounty.org, or by leaving a voicemail for one of our volunteers at 434-485-6242. APPLICATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO ADOPT. Go to www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org The policy for adopting an unsterilized pet requires that you live in Campbell County, Lynchburg City, or a county touching Campbell County. If you are a resident of one of these areas, you may adopt directly from the facility and spay/neuter the pet yourself within 30 days, or by the time the pet is six months of age. If you live outside this area, the pet must be spayed or neutered before you can take it home. Kittens or puppies too young for spay/neuter may be adopted through Friends of Campbell County Animal Control. We will be happy to help you make arrangements to do this. Our process begins with an application, found on our website, www.friendsofcampbellcounty.org. Once your application has been received, a volunteer will call the references you list and then will contact you.
