Three year old Kai was surrendered to the shelter. We were told he did not get along with his sister any longer, and we believe he was a house pet rather than a working pet based on his clean white coat. He has had no vet care, no vaccines, not neutered, no heartworm test. And we think he is slightly underweight at 70 pounds. He should be probably 80 to 90 pounds. He has double dewclaws, and as soon as we get a chance we will test him with other dogs at the shelter. Many times it’s just one family member dog that creates issues especially when no one has been sterilized in the home. He is really beautiful! We had a chance to see how he reacts when complete strangers do things like vaccinating, and he was absolutely fine. He, like most dogs we don't know well, does not like to feel cornered or hovered over, so we gave hm plenty of space while we tended to him, and he didn't object. He lay down for us when a treat was placed on the floor, and he sits and whines a bit, and even whines when he is walking, due to the newness of being shoved into the middle of this new, not so wonderful situation. We are truly not sure what the behavior is specifically that landed him in the shelter, as we aren't seeing the behavior that was described. We like to give every dog a chance to be adopted, and will most certainly help this one!
