Velvet is about five years old, 70 pounds, and may be a great Pyrenees/golden retriever mix. We know she is comfortable with children over the age of five, but would need to do a dog test with children younger than that age. Her foster mom says she is not trustworthy with cats and is not comfortable leaving her alone in the house if the cats are nearby. Although she is great with other dogs, Velvet's true passion is for humans! She will be a devoted companion for whichever family she decides to adopt. We have seen her through treatment for an ear infection and she is very grateful for the opportunity to feel well! She does not want to be an outdoor guardian despite her appearance, and prefers being indoors with the chance to go out as needed. Ideal home? Physically fenced yard, no invisible fences, a family willing to continue positive training as she knows only praise and treats, and a household with children over the age of five. “Velvet” was said to be a stray, but after several weeks in a foster home, we realize that we know more than an owner would probably have been able to tell us anyway. We adore this happy beauty, who is absolutely charming with other dogs, is beautifully housetrained, and is the perfect houseguest in her foster home. She is is handling the changes in her life beautifully, is co-existing with the cats in the home, and best of all, she has not stopped smiling since she arrived there! Her recent vet visit yielded confirmation that she is spayed, and she is now current with vaccines, heartworm testing and had a nice complete exam that included meds for her infected ears. What a beauty! We want her to find a home where she can have the same love she is getting right now! Can you offer that?
