Border Collie (long coat) : : Female : : Young : : Large Learn more about the Border Collie.
This beauty came to us after being hit by a car, and then abandoned at the vet by her family. Healing is completed, though she thankfully was never broken, and had only bruising and some tissue inflammation. She was given an all-clear several weeks ago to move on to her forever home. Her foster family say this exceptional beauty will prosper in a home with another nice companion dog, as she thrives when others are around, and appears to rely on them for support. We are insisting that any home which takes her in will have a fenced yard, with physical fencing rather than invisible fencing, as we already know she loves to run and pays no attention to where she is going. Because she loves to be underfoot, her perfect placement will be with an active family willing to spend time and money going to family dog training for good manners (we are not as concerned that she walk perfectly in a heel) as she needs to learn a reliable "come when called" and not to jump on her chosen people. We do feel she would be a danger to older folks who are unstable and might trip over her, because she is that devoted to being close. Of course, border collie experience would be wonderful, as long as you realize every dog is different! We think she would love being part of a team for dog sports, too! Agility, flyball, one of those ever-evolving fun sports, would be so rewarding! She is definitely not "just a pet." Are you ready to take on a border collie challenge? All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. She will need to be sterilized before she can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County or counties touching Campbell.
