Injured and needing immediate medical treatment, FRECKLES, a German short haired pointer, showed up on the porch of a family in the Sugar Hill Road area of Campbell County. His neck was oozing infection from puncture wounds caused by bites, and he had been suffering at least two days, according to the vet. First order of business was pain meds and antibiotic to get the infection under control. Surgery went well.

He’s one to two years old, very gentle despite his wounds. Call the shelter at 434.821.4416 or Altavista Animal Hospital, 434.369.7033, to reclaim.
